Noriko's Impression from DAIGA's World

Cublic Red

Since the advent of home video, we take for granted that we watch movies at home. Long ago, when movies were supposed to be seen at theatres I saw "Clock worked Orange" directed by Stanley Cublic. I clearly remember the shock I received by the beautiful scenes. Many images out of continuously flowing scenes were registered in my brain like stop motion. The movie was well-crafted as a whole unified with vivied images such as beautiful modern interior decors and costume designs. The movie had totally artificial feel. It had a smell of plastic and even trees and grass had a look of fake. Everything in the movie had this common look of artificialness. Color plays an important role in this movie. Each individual has different taste for colors so I'm not sure whether one single theory can be applicable.
But for every artist the "public" is "something to confront" or simply an enemy. As I'm aware of this I'm awed by the effect of the use of color.
Especially I was thrilled by the bloody red often used in the movie.
I remembered the old movie since Daiga's photographies too had effective use of colors. I can't say that photography is better with color but we are living in a world with full of colors. "Not abandoning color but not ruled by it" so to speak.
