Noriko's Impression from DAIGA's World

Hizumie

An image distorted by means of optical manipulation is called "Hizumie".
The reason why I was attracted so much by that particular architectural photography which I usually do not care for lies in the fact that it had distorted images. The crane shot amongst municipal building under construction seems like a distorted cross. I can observe a slightly arched windowpane within an existing window. Though actually the glass image is only a passing dream, I cannot but feel the distorted images are whispering to me. Does such a moment come when mankind can modestly became a part of the earth? Would the voiceless mutterings of the mother nature be perceived by people toward the twentyfirst century? However hope is dim I still like to believe, that even if the end of the world comes, which is ever right, and that, many people were struggling with knowledge and courage on the edge of desperation.
Thus the municipal building series gave me decadant thoughts. I think it's an important thing to consider about the end of a century in present Japan.
